Samsung has declared through its community website that the latest Android version Android 8.0 Oreo will be updated on all variants of Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 within the next 3 weeks.

Carrier-locked versions are made to handle one network. That’s the reason it does not require much testing and gets updates sooner. On the other hand, unlocked versions of Galaxy smartphones need approval from Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, AT&T and few other carriers for the same Oreo version of the software. So, the main problem is that if the unlocked version of Samsung faces issue with even one carrier, the software of the device has to be re-tested with all other carriers. If the device software is tested and approved by all carriers, it will be launched on all applicable devices.
Google tells that Android’s latest version 8.0 Oreo is faster, smarter, and more powerful than ever. It has new features such as background limits i.e. minimized background activity in apps that you use the least. Auto-Fill remembers your logins to sign-in easily into your favorite or regularly used apps within seconds. Oreo’s amazing feature allows you to see two apps at once i.e., Picture-in-Picture. Another amazing feature is that users can dive into more apps with fewer clicks. Other salient features are Google Play protect and life saver for your battery.
Samsung users with unlocked carrier version for Snapdragon Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ and Galaxy Note 8 can get official Android latest version Oreo for their phones within the next 3 weeks.
Samsung Experience 9.0 Software is the company’s own product that runs over Android Oreo 8.0. Samsung released its Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus flagships with Android Oreo earlier this month.
