August 6 was a relief for all the residents of Goa, when the Chief minister Manohar Parrikar and the tourism minister Manohar Ajgaonkar finally, released an exclusionary service giving relief for the state’s taxi drivers as well as the citizens. The taxi service named “Goamiles” is mainly focused and developed for the safety of their passengers.
The meeting that was held at Secretariat Complex, Porvorim was in favor of the commuters and the state’s taxi drivers. It is surprising to note that since past many years, there has been no online taxi services plying at Goa, although it is a major tourist attraction and attracts plenty of tourists to the state even during off season. Due to union of the taxi drivers, online app based services like Ola and Uber failed to set their footprint in Goa. With the newly launched Goamiles services that has some advantage for the drivers, including a hike in their salary by two to three times and a complete transparency of fares between the driver and the customer.
To reach out all the citizens, the minister has announced public awareness among the people in order to make the app available to all the people of Goa, Such that, people can travel miles with all the security and comfort they need. The app is a longtime development/investment for all the commuters or travelers.
Talking in the interview, tourism minister, Manohar Ajgaonkar said, with the release of Goamiles we are expecting a good response from the people as this change can definitely lead us to a better future and towards the development of the state. The new app is the sign of digital improvement in and a small step to improve the life of taxi drivers and travelers.
The app will be managed by the Goan company, Frotamiles Pvt. Limited.who will be taking care of all the app based activities, starting from payment to pickup and drop. Things will get easier with Goamiles as it offers you to pay, monitor and track the location in real time with just one app.
Words from the tourism minister, Manohar Ajgaonkar on the Goamiles app,” The launch of the app based taxi service in Goa will bring a revolutionary change in the transportation system for all the stakeholders including taxi drivers, tourists and locals. I am confident that tourist taxi drivers across Goa will join this digital system so that Goa does not lag behind other states where such systems are working successfully.”
With so much going around already, it will be a wait and watch situation to see if the app is accepted by all the people especially the local taxi drivers who have successfully abated the functioning of Ola and Uber in the state.
