Indian Government has planned to deliver the petrol, diesel to the doorsteps of the people who ordered online. Oil marketing companies like Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPC) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPC) will soon join the e-commerce platform to deliver online.
According to the reports, India is the three largest consumer of oil in the world. The government will introduce daily price revision of petrol and diesel from 1st May in five cities as a part of the nation-wide roll-out of the plan. Around 350 million people come to fuel stations every day in the country and Rs. 2,500 crore fuel transactions take place annually.
The Petroleum Minister Dharmendra said, “This would increase the number of digital transactions and would become more comfortable for consumers. Besides, it would cut long queues at fuel stations as the same would be delivered at customers’ doorsteps.”
However, on 31st March this year, the state-owned oil firms have slashed the petrol prices by Rs. 3.77 per litre of petrol and Rs. 2.91 per litre of diesel. The Oil marketing companies have also conducted the 35,000 consumer awareness campaigns to promote the digital transactions from the time of old notes ban. Now they planned to deliver petrol, diesel online for the consumers.
