Indian Navy now has the indigenously built powerful and advanced Guided Missile Destroyer. This Navy warship is named as ‘MORMUGAO’ or ‘INS MORMUGAO’ is launched for the first time in the deep Arabian Sea at Mumbai Mazgaon Shipyard on Saturday at 11:58 a.m.

Navy Chief Admiral Sunil Lanba’s wife Reena launched at this momentous function at MDL (Mazgaon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd) where a large number of Naval Officers, Sailors, and MDL Staff attended.

With all loud cheers and thundering claps, the giant fighter warship slid into the Arabian sea.

This Warship built by government-run Mazgaon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL) and belongs to Visakhapatnam class of ships which are being constructed under Project 15B. Since 1960 the Indian Navy and MDL are building ships together and is only in the whole country to build Submarines.

This stealth destroyer can be compared with the world best vessels.

The 15B missile destroyer Mormugoa warship is equipped with a wide range of High-Tech missiles, latest weapons, and armor. The vessel will undergo some tests later.

This warship is named after the Mormugoa picturesque port of Goa, the home state of the Defence Minister Manohar Prikkar. Mormugoa is a linage of the successful builds of Delhi and Calcutta Class ships. Four more destroyers with the advanced technology would be built and delivered by MDL in the coming 2020-2024 – a statement of PSU

The first Visakhapatnam Class ship was launched on April 20, 2015.

Mormugoa is equipped with Surface-to-Air missiles, Surface-to-Surface missiles, multi-mission radars for surveillance, advanced electronic warfare, and decoys and also Anti-Submarine Rocket launchers.

This fighting giant can also carry two Anti-Submarine Warfare Helicopters and has a displacement of 7,300 ton with a top speed of over 30 knots.

Navy Chief Admiral Sunil Lanba is addressing the function before launch said: “ This ship serves the Make in India drive of the country as it is indigenously built .”

“ It secures the sea in a better way. The contract for this ship was signed in January 2011. It can be compared with the best ships in the world and has been developed by our own designers at DRDO as well as the other government agencies and private companies. There is a need to build more warships by reducing the future vessels”.
