Red beacons or Laal Batti

Central Government bans red beacons on all VIP vehicles which includes Vice-President, PM’s, CM’s , Union ministers, judges of the high court and Supreme Court. The decision of beacon ban was taken by the union cabinet after a meeting under PM modi.

Only Blue beacons or blue lights would be allowed on emergency service vehicles like Fire Engines,Army, Ambulances and Police for easy passage through traffic.

The latest decision by the central government would be coming into force from 1st of May 2017. Earlier Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and UP CM Yogi Adityanath has banned the beacons on VIP’s Vehicles.

#ModiFusesLalBatti is trending on Twitter as Prime Minister decision is being welcomed by many citizens.Speaking on the Govt’s decision Finance minister Arun Jaitley said that ” Govt is of the opinion that beacons are perceived symbols of VIP culture. They have no relevance whatsoever.

Talking on the decision of terminating the VIP culture Nitin Gadkari said that “People used to feel bad about people in power and others using red beacons on their vehicle. It’s a huge democratic decision.”After the Cabinet Meeting, the red beacons on the official vehicles of Ministers were seen removed.
