According to Mega Millions’ officials, the Jackpot on Friday is estimated to be around $418 million as it failed to produce a winner for $361 Mega Million Jackpot on Tuesday night.
On Tuesday, the numbers drawn were 1, 42, 64, 70 and 47. The mega ball for Tuesday night was 22.
For Wednesday’s draw, the jackpot is expected to be around $440 million with a cash pay-out of $278.3 million. It has been more than 12 weeks since someone hit the jackpot of Mega Millions. If anyone hits the jackpot, the ticket holder will be the 8th biggest Mega Millions prize winner and 22nd biggest jackpot winner in the history of U.S lottery.
This Mega Jackpot was rolled out 22 times since October 2017, said the Georgia Lottery officials.
The odds of winning such a huge jackpot are very less, said the Mega Million officials. This is the second time that Mega Millions and Powerball had such a huge jackpot at once, larger than 300 million dollars.
The winner for such a huge jackpot must choose to take the lump sum amount at once or receive 30 annual payments for 29 years.
In January 2016, the biggest Powerball jackpot was $1.586 billion. Another record prize was $656 million in March 2012.
Tickets for both the jackpots are $2 per play and they can be purchased at many outlets. The Powerball jackpot numbers may go up to 69 and experts suggest that the players should use the full range of available numbers rather than limiting themselves by choosing selective numbers like their birthdays, months or lucky numbers. By doing so, they are limiting their chances of winning the Jackpot.
Powerball is played in 44 states, Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia and the U.S Virgin Islands.
