Raveena Tandon’s comeback film Maatr faced troubles at Censor Board of Film Certification (CBSC), But now it has cleared its problems and all set to hit the theatre screens on Friday, i.e., 21st April 2017. The latest flick talks about the controversial issue of rape which was rejected by the Censor Board earlier due to the hatred or horror scenes.
“The producers of Maatr came back to us on Monday with the film. Our Examining Committee broke the queue to re-view Maatr. This time the film was passed with three visual cuts and one general (audio) cut,” said CBFC Chief Phalaj Nihalani.
He also added, “From the time I took over as the chairperson of the CBFC, it has been my effort to ensure that no producers incur any losses because of the CBFC. We understand Maatr is a small meaningful film and any delay would be financially problem for producers. My entire Examining Committee co-operated to secure a swift certification for the movie.”
The movie lead actress Raveena Tandon said, “If we don’t show the reality, then the audience will remain indifferent to brutality and rape will remain a taboo.” Apart from hurdles and troubles faced by the CBFC, the film finally got some cuts with A certificate. Maatr, directed by Ashtar Syed, and Raveena Tandon plays the role of Single mother. The film is all set to release on 21st April 2017.
