M-Kavach is the latest smartphone application, for securing the financial transactions performed on the mobile. Experts from Centre for Development of Advance Computing (CDAC) Hyderabad has developed this app and suggesting to install this application for the security purpose.
Complete development of this application is built by the Research and Development team of CDAC Hyderabad. This application is the mobile device security solution for the Android devices. M-Kavach will notify the threats which are related to the malware that can rip-off your information and personal data including the credentials, misusing the WiFi and Bluetooth connection resources, stolen or lost mobile devices, Spam Messages, Unwanted incoming calls, etc.
The project manager I.L. Narasimha Rao says “M-Kavach can download either from Google PlayStore or CDAC website. Many apps downloaded on mobile have malware attached. M-Kavach will help in identifying malicious apps.” This CDAC is the unit of the ministry related to the electronics and information technology
The features of M-Kavach has secured the storage of files, call/SMS filter and you also you can blacklist and whitelist the numbers you require. This app has the anti- theft option which can track the change of the SIM card on the device, apply settings like device restrictions for secure the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and mobile data access.
During the release, P.R. Lakshmi, Joint Director of CDAC’s E-Security Wing says “An updated version of M-Kavach will launch in two weeks. This application will check how the apps are using resources on the phone and keep tabs on fraudulent applications. It analyses the apps with malicious intention and denies permission. The crucial content on mobile can encrypt.”
When you are redirecting to the malicious website, JS Guard function on the application will alert you. If your phone has stolen, and the person who stolen the phone inserts other SIM, it will connect to the mobile data and the personal data will erase with the single SMS.
The team of CDAC has also developed the desktop security application like ‘Browser JS Guard’ for the security website URLs. The JS Guard is used by the DRDO, Indian Navy, and Indian Army.
For the external flash devices like USBs and Pen Drives, external hard drives, etc. USB Pratirodh, introduced which is another software solution from CDAC.
