Pete Lau, the CEO of OnePlus revealed that the next smartphone from OnePlus will be released in 2018 Q2. The company is known for hardcore Android and technology shrewdness. He said in an interview that they will initiate the talks with the US carriers to get collaborated.
Since OnePlus launched OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T in 2017, the organization would launch the next flagship phone by the end of the second quarter in 2018.
Recently, OnePlus collaborated with European carriers. A deal with well-known carriers would bring high profile distribution and will be a great asset to the brand. The company stands top in market demand with the release of OnePlus 5T in November 2017.
An analysis reveals that 85% to 90% of the consumers will purchase phones through US carriers. This is the reason behind the collaboration of OnePlus with US carriers.
The CEO did not specify many details about the new phone that is to be launched. He just revealed that the phone would use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor.
He said, “Of course, there is no other choice.” The company will launch the new phone after the arrival of Samsung’s Galaxy S9, which will be the first phone to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor.
The company said that they would enhance the features in OnePlus3 and OnePlus 3T by providing a beta version of the company’s Face Unlock feature.
Artificial Intelligence is one of the leading and dominating technologies nowadays. The CEO said, “It’s become a buzzword.” That doesn’t indicate OnePlus has already tamped smart technologies into its products. It’s just that OnePlus executives do not firebrand AI much. “The only thing we can do now is to keep a humble approach,” said Lau when he was expressing his view on the usage of AI.
The pricing and other details of the new phone will be revealed later.
