Lakshyam is the latest Malayalam movie featuring Biju Menon and Indrajith in lead roles under the direction of debutant Anzar Khan. Biju Menon who has done over 100 films in Malayalam is also familiar with the Telugu film Industry as he played the villain role in Gopichand’s Ranam movie and also the lawyer role in Raviteja’s Khatarnak film. As Jeetu Joseph has written the script of this emotional thriller, the expectations are high. Jeetu Joseph is the original script writer of Drishyam Movie which was later remade in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and also getting made into Singhalese. Initially, Viji Thampi was supposed to direct this film, but Anzar Khan took over the project. Let’s see if the movie reached its expectations or not:
Laksyam is an emotional crime thriller dark film. Biju Menon played the role of Mustafa and Indrajith is seen in the character of Vimal. The story focuses mainly on two criminals, one who has got charged with a theft case and other with a murder case. Both the culprits run away from jail, but they have to go through a forest to do so. What happens next in their journey forms the rest of the story.
Biju Menon did a splendid job as Mustafa in the movie. He did this film right after his big hit Rakshadhikari Baiju Oppu. Mustafa role is charged with theft and also have a slight comedy angle in him. No other actor can justify the position as much as Biju did. Indrajith’s Vimal role is the one charged with the murder case. He is also a techie. He surprises the audience with his acting skills. The film has only a few characters. Other than these two, Sshivada, Kishore Satya, Shammi Thilakan also played some significant roles in the movie.
Director Anzar Khan did a significant work even though this is his first movie. He has worked as an assistant director and associate director predominantly in Mollywood and marked his directorial debut with Lakshyam. Jeethu Joseph has penned the script of this flick as said earlier. He did reach the expectations and thrills the audience at times. Sinu Sidharth, the cinematographer of the movie, took extra care to make each and every scene interesting. Music by Anil Johnson suited the film well. His background score supported the flow of the movie very well. Producers didn’t seem to hesitate regarding investment, and the movie came out finely. As the story is hinting, the almost entire movie is shooted in forest areas.
- Cast performance
- Thriller aspects
- Dragging second half
Finally, we can say that Lakshyam justifies its genre and is a real emotional thriller. Even with the dark elements in the movie, the director executed the story well. Actors have done their best in the film, and the background score is good. The film maintains the thrilling elements well and will makes the audience stick to their chairs. The story makes them keep guessing.
Lakshyam will gives good and thrilling experience to the viewers.(2.5/5)
