Clashes broke out on Tuesday over a 200-year-old battle in Pune’s Bhima Koregaon region. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has appealed for peace in Mumbai-Pune region.
Section 144 has been imposed till January 4 midnight in Thane. School bus owners’ association member Mr. Anil Garg said – “To ensure the safety and security of the students, school buses will not be run today.”
In the early hours of today, protestors tried to halt the local railway services in Mumbai- Thane region, but GRP and RPF have immediately cleared the problem. CPRO central railway said that the services are running uninterrupted as of now.
High security has been imposed on the Eastern Express Highway and Rambai Colony in Ghatkopar to ensure that no clashes break out.
On the other hand, Mumbai police have tweeted that the traffic in Chembur Naka and Eastern Express Highway were badly affected due to the protests and they also ensured that there was nothing to panic about.
A complaint was filed against the Dalit leader Jignesh at Deccan Police Station in Pune where he allegedly made provocative statements on two communities, which led to clashes between them.
On the other hand, airlines like Jet Airways and Air India have waived off the cancellation charges for people boarding flights from Mumbai on 2nd and 3rd of January.
