Kalikho Pul: Former Arunachal Pradesh CM found dead at Official CM residence
Former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Kalikho Pul allegedly committed suicide this morning at the CM’s official residence located at the capital Itanagar. He was yet to vacate the official CM house as his home was under renovation.
Kalikho Pul (47) was a Congress rebel who gathered a large number of legislators from the party against then chief minister Nambam Tuki in February. He became the chief minister with BJP backing in the month of February and served the state for a short term.
Last month, as per the Supreme Court order Congress restored the power in Arunachal Pradesh.The verdict was a result of the State Congress leaders appeal to the apex court against the way in which the President’s rule was withdrawn and the formation of the Pul government in the next three hours on February 19.
Mr Khandu was current chief minister elected by Congress party. Angry supporters of Kalikho Pul gathered and protested in front of Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s home.However, the causes and circumstances of the death are unknown. According to the sources, police recovered puls diary which is sent for investigation.
In the oath taking ceremony of Chief Minister Pema Khandu, he said to media that “I always follow my heart and did what I thought was right. Now the court order has come, and I am following the court order.”
