This would be a very interesting match with Gautam Gambhir returning to the home ground of Kolkata Knight Riders but as the captain of the opposition, Delhi Daredevils. Remember, under Gambhir’s captaincy KKR won two IPL trophies so far. Bot the teams will look forward to bag their second victory in the 11th season of IPL.
With a better run rate KKR now stands at number 5 while DD is positioned at number 7. Kolkata Knight Riders have the home ground advantage, they are coming from a loss against Sun Risers Hyderabad. Delhi Daredevils, on the other hand, will be pumped after their last victory against Mumbai Indians.
Dinesh Karthik, captain of KKR, has a tall order task tonight to help his side recover from two back to back losses. For starters, KKR have to ensure their batting is better organized and sooner they do this in the tournament the better it would be for them. Tonight’s clash between the two side would be a testing time for KKR to prove what their batting side is worth of.
DD’s performance in the last match spoke for itself as they demonstrated hunger and discipline at the same time. The world class knock by Jason Roy will continue to pose as a threat to opposition for quite some time in this season. Delhi is also likely to see the joining of their controversial speedster Mohammed Sami who has been accused of domestic abuse recently by his wife.
Overall, Delhi Daredevils look like a side ready to roar while KKR have to do some strategic changes before they come across as a more confident team. Probably digging deep into the squad might help. For starters, they can consider bringing back Sunil Narine to his opening slot. The Under-19 World Cup champion duo of Shivam Mavi and Shubham Gill also have the potential to weave some magic.
