Indian Navy launched Khanderi Second Indigenous Scorpene Submarine at Mazagon dock ship builders limited in Mumbai on Thursday.

This submarine has launched by Bina Bamre wife of Minister of State for Defence Subhash Bhamre. Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Sunil Lamba had also appeared on this occasion when the submarine had separated from the pontoon on which it was assembled.

This Khanderi has the feature of superior stealth and ability to launch a crippling attack on the enemy using precision guided weapons. This attack can be launched with torpedoes, as well as with tube-launched anti-ship missiles.

It has designed to operate in all theaters including tropics. All means and communications are provided to ensure interoperability with other components of a naval task force. They are also going to undertake various missions like anti-surface warfare, anti-submarine warfare, intelligence gathering, mine laying, area surveillance, etc.

They have declared khanderi is the second in the six submarines which have been build by Mazagon Dock with the collaboration of DCNS of France, as part of Project-75 of the Indian Navy. By December 8th, 2017 Indian navy’s submarine arm will complete 50 years

In 1992 the exclusive group of the submarine constructing nation had commissioned with the INS Shalki. Up to December 2017, this submarine will go on trails undergo rigorous trials and tests, both in the harbor and at sea, while on surface and whilst dived.
