From Thursday, the Income Tax department has activated the e-filing facility for Income Tax Returns (ITRs) all categories for the year 2017-18. The forms will be available at the government official portal incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in. For all those, who are willing to fill ITR online for the year 2017-18.
One of the Income Tax officials has released a statement, and he stated that the taxpayer should attach a copy of last year’s ITR along with bank statements, tax deducted at source (TDS), Form 60 and savings certificates and other necessary documents while doing the e-filing.
Unlike olden days, when the certification sent to CPC in Bengaluru, the verification will be done through online now. Through Aadhaar number, the officials will complete the e-verification of ITRs in just one click time. The official said that so far 2,59,831 ITRs are E-verified using Aadhaar number for the year 2017-18. According to the Finance Act 2017, it made compulsory for taxpayers to submit aadhaar or enrollment ID while filling the e-form for ITR.
To get the permanent account number, from July 1, 2017, the officials made Aadhaar made mandatory for it. The ITRs can fill till 31st of July, and the e-forms introduced for all the seven ITRs, which also includes the one-page simplified ITR-1 (Sahaj) belongs to the salaried class and those having income from only one house and their interest total should not be more than Rs 50 lakh.
