Heavy Rain Falls: Mumbai is once again in water. Similar to 2005 floods, weather man states that even this time there is a probability of heavy rains that may fill Mumbai with water till knees. Heavy rainfall is expected in next 48 hours. The disaster management team and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) are on alert that any time people may need them for help. The government has announced the emergency number, 1916.

Mumbai police issued an alert regarding the rainfall and high tides. Mumbai being a seaport city experiences heavy rains and high tides. Increase in sea level causes growth in rains in Mumbai. Due to torrential rains, trains on the western line have been suspended.

People who have urgency regarding work are preferring flights. Even there is heavy traffic for flights. Delays have been experienced. Change in weather caused suspension of trains and flights.

Devendra Fadnavis, Maharashtra Chief Minister, tweeted alerts from disaster management’s office in Mumbai. He informed Mumbaikars that the administration is “fully geared and monitoring situation” following heavy rains in Mumbai.

“There is a low-pressure system over Madhya Pradesh, and it is likely to intensify in next 24 hours. This well-marked low-pressure system is causing heavy to very heavy rainfall over Mumbai and adjoining areas. Rains will continue over the next 24 hours,” Dr. A K Srivastava, head of the climate monitoring unit, IMD Pune said.

Mumbai being the capital of Maharashtra faces heavy rainfalls due to low pressure in the Atlantic Ocean. Under developed road and railway cause a lot of inconvenience to the public. Heavy rains in Mumbai are recorded as the highest rate of fall.

According to the latest updates at present, there is moderate rainfall. Continuous rain from past three days. People are asked to stay indoor unless in case of emergency. National Disaster Management Authority asked to call on an emergency number for help.
