It has been confirmed that Google I/O 2020 will be held on 12 May 2020 and is expected that Pixel 4a will be launched at this conference. In the conference of 2019, Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL were announced. Pixel is Google’s most successful android series. Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3a were mostly indistinguishable and felt pretty much the same to the eye. Leaks and speculations, however, say that Pixel 4a will have its own personality in a few important aspects and will vary from the standard Pixel 4.

Google released its conference teaser, which is a puzzle that brings you into a partial command-driven game that sounds like everyone has to work together to move forward. It is named “A Collaboration of the Cosmos” and it displays a “Signal Strength” of 0.12 percent as a progress bar at the time of writing, apparently an average resulting from the progress made in six separate puzzles within the game. Using information related to the constellation of satellites will be helpful to solve the puzzle.

There are already rumors that the new phone model may have a hole-punch display, which was not there in the Pixel 4 series. Another big difference would be that Pixel 4a would have a 3.5 mm headphone jack. It is also expected to have a square camera bump. Through recent evidence of smartphone code names are found in Google’s apps, it is suggested that the company could launch at least two new mid-range phones this year with expected hardware to be Qualcomm Snapdragon 765, which would work on 5G and Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 with 4G. The display tech of choice for the Pixel 4a series will most likely remain OLED. For the camera, we expect Pixel 4a to follow the Pixel 4 series in terms of features and image quality.

It is also expected that Google would announce the launch of the Android 11 beta version. In Google I/O 2019, Android Q beta 3 was launched. Some of the features, which are expected to be in Android 11 but cannot be implemented on Android 10, are Scoped Storage, Android Beam, and dark theme improvements. Last year, Nest Hub Max was also introduced at the conference. This year, it is expected of Google to reveal more Nest hardware at the conference. Nest Hub Max introduced extensive smart home controls and a larger screen with better audio quality. This time as well, Google might come up with better and new features in the Nest hardware.

Many new upgrades are expected to be launched this year at the conference. There have been already a lot of leaks from renders. There would be other upgrades too announced at the conference.
