Google Maps

Google is now making it easier to find a place to park with a new feature in Google Maps for Android users. It allows users to find parking in 25 cities in the United States. Since vehicle parking can be unpredictable, the latest Google Maps will now find parking spots along the way to your destination. It’s as simple as selecting Find Parking and Google will provide various parking lots and garages. The user can choose any of the parking options depending on how close they are to the final point.

Google Maps will also offer you walking distance directions from the parking lot too, so you can decide whether you park your vehicle based on price versus distance. The downside of the app is it doesn’t tell you how many parking spots are still available in the given garage.

The iOS did receive Parking Difficulty support in a recent update. Google maps will offer some feedback on whether a car park is busy at that particular time of the day when you are travelling through a city.

Google uses Machine Learning over time to collect data from users to find the status of a car park. However, there is no electronic method for determining whether a car park has empty spaces which can be accessed by Google. Let’s hope Google will add this functionality over time as well as reserving parking spots in a garage

Google did not give any clarity on when the feature will roll out on iOS, when it will be available in more cities, or for a technical explanation of how it works
