Google’s upcoming Android O Beta release to address in the happening Google I/O 2017 annual developers conference in California. Google highlights some new features in the successor to Android Nougat. Android O Beta Program is now available for the public with the new Developer Preview 2 release.
Google rolled out the first Developer Preview of Android O with features like picture-in-picture, notification channels and improved keyboard navigation. Besides this, there is also a new feature called Smart Text Selection which improves copy and pastes through machine learning. Also, it can recognize contexts on the screen and copies the whole thing with a double tap. Notification Dots is a new way for developers to notify users about activity on the app, driving engagement.
Google did not detail other features of Android O to reveal it the later day when it officially starts rolling out the final version. Despite the availability of Android O Beta version, Google is still calling it as Developers Preview 2. Another interesting release is Google announced Android Go software for entry-level devices with 1GB RAM.
Android O also gets better battery efficiency which Google is providing it through Android Vitals. This mainly focuses on startup time, optimizing battery life, graphic rendering time, and stability.
Also, Google introduced new tools like system optimizations, background apps limits for developers along with Android Vitals Dashboards in the Play Console. The annual developer’s conference also unveiled highlights of the Google’s efforts in AI and machine learning with Assistant taking center stage.
