FIFA U-17 World Cup is going to start grandly. Guwahati is the venue for one of the semi-finals for the enthusiastic sport this year. Out of 6 cities hosting the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017 Guwahati being the largest city of Assam got the chance to host the semi-finals.
FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017 will take place from 6th to 28th of October. This is the first time that the Tournament is being hosted by India. Taking it as a privilege and Guwahati has released its Guwahati’s host city logo.
The all new logo consists of components and sentiments that are related to the culture and activities of the city. On the eve of releasing the logo, even FIFA U-17 World Cup Winner’s Trophy was revealed by Sarbananda Sonowal, chief minister of Assam.
Sarbananda Sonowal was previously Union Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs and currently serving as chief minister of Assam. Expressing his happiness towards the opportunity that Guwahati got, he said “This is a big occasion for us, especially for the young population here, to be a venue for the FIFA U-17 World Cup. I am happy to reveal the Winner’s Trophy because this particular World Cup will inspire the youngsters to play football, at a world stage.”
The launch event took place on 26th August in Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium. On 27th the official trophy was kept at Judges Field for a Mission XI Million festival in an intention that public will view the trophy and enjoy the moment.
Javier Ceppi, Tournament director, LOC FIFA U-17 World Cup, informed, “We’re delighted to launch the Guwahati Host City Logo. The state government has been very supportive of the World Cup from the beginning and once again, they have reiterated that through the Host City Logo, they will further promote the tournament in Assam and the rest of the northeast.”
A silver medal was awarded to the winners, and FIFA U-17 World Cup was brought to New Delhi for the first time. Now Guwahati is the second city to invite the winner’s trophy. As Federation International de Football Association (FIFA) is considered as the best opportunity for the youngsters to encourage the game in the country. They will able to seek a better future following the game.
