DoT Launches Tarang Sanchar

New Delhi: The Telecom Department has launched a new portal through which people can see the radiation, a mobile tower emits and also check the compliance based on a few norms in a particular area. They named the portal as Tarang Sanchar. Manoj Sinha, Telecom Minister, claimed that this portal will now put an end to all the myths and misconceptions about the radiation that a tower emits.

The portal helps the people to know the details of a tower in just a click. The details include the radiation that the tower is emitting and if it is normal or not and if the radiation is compliant with the Electromagnetic Field(EMF) stated by the government.

Recently three weeks before, a man from Gwalior filed a case that he was affected with cancer due to the high electromagnetic radiation that the mobile tower is emitting. So the court sent orders to the BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) to shut down the tower. This is the first time a Telecom tower is closed based on the complaint filed by one individual.

However, the case gave birth to so many misconceptions and which led to the introduction of this portal by DoT. The government claims that Radiation emission rules in India are more rigid than the other countries.
