Unlike olden days, it is difficult for a movie to get a 100 days theatrical run at present. Earlier, the success and failure of a film depend on the story and presentation, but the meaning has completely changed. The collections at the box office turned out to be the new measurements to decide whether a film is a hit or flop. In the past, only the makers used to announce the final collections, but now even a small budget film has the first day, second day, first weekend and closing collections.
The Telugu Cinema slowly incorporated the Bollywood style of treatment for movies. In spite of being a Telugu Cinema, the dubbed version of Baahubali:The Beginning created a sensation in Bollywood. Since then, the Baahubali film has been getting humongous craze and now the whole nation is eagerly waiting for the release of Baahubali 2:The Conclusion. The film is all set to hit the screens on April 28th. Let’s see what are the records this film has broken even before its release.
With just a 2 minutes trailer, Baahubali 2 took the internet by heavy storm in just a few hours. To trigger the excitement of audience, the makers have finalised 24 trailers and finally gave a green signal to one. In 24 hours, nearly 5 crores people have watched the trailer. The film has stood in the top 7 in the category of highest viewed videos. In all languages, nearly 10 crore people have watched this trailer.
Pre release business
The film hit the screens on April 28th. Only in India, the movie is releasing in as many as 6,500 screens. For the first time, a South Indian film to get released in these many screens. Earlier, Aamir Khan starrer Dangal and Salman Khan’s Sultan was released in 4,000 screens. Baahubali 2 is the first South Indian film, that is made in IMAX and presenting it on 4K screens.
First Day Collections
As the film is going to get released in highest number of theaters, the collections are expected to be huge. Baahubali : The Beginning has collected Rs. 50 crores on the first day in all languages. No film has broken this record so far. Rajinikanth’s Kabaali has collected Rs. 48 crores. Because of all these, people have set huge expectations on the film. Even if the film collects Rs. 100 crores on the first day itself, there will be no wonder in that. Baahubali first part has created a new record by collecting Rs. 169 crores on the first weekend. But Salman Khan’s Sultan has rewritten the record by collecting Rs. 180 in the first weekend. Well, let’s see whether Baahubali 2 will break this record or not.
Since the past few months, South Indian films are doing well in overseas when compared to Bollywood films. When Aamir Khan’s PK collects 57.7 million dollars, Baahubali first part set a record by collecting 10.88 million dollars. Now, the second part is going to release in 1500 screens. Let’s see what is going to be the new record of Baahubali 2.
Rs. 1000 crores club?
These days, films entering into Rs. 100 crore club has become a normal thing. Bollywood films PK, Dangal has collected Rs.792 crores and Rs. 730 crores, as per the trade reports. Now, we have to wait and see whether this film will get into Rs. 1000 crore club or not. The first part has already entered into Rs. 500 crore club.
New Record created in Bollywood
Earlier, South Indian films didn’t do well at the box office. Many star heroes have tried, but none of them get succeeded. Bollywood actors who remade those films there get huge success at the box office. But for the first time a South Indian film, Baahubali: The Beginning has collected Rs. 100 crores alone in Bollywood. Now, as per the trade reports, this second part is expected to collect Rs. 200 crores. Let’s wait how many records, this film is going to create after its release.
