What a scene at M. Chidambaram Stadium. The Kings met Sunrisers Hyderabad at their home. The pitch at Chennai is considerable very slow and damp. It gets worse after the first innings wherein the batters won’t be able to rotate strike. 160 runs on the board are actually very difficult to chase in this kind of pitch. Kane Williamson, the greatest batsman of all time has taken a responsibility of leading Sunrisers Hyderabad. But this match he was not there and he had handed over the responsibility to our Indian Seamer Bhuvaneshwar Kumar. MSD, the Leader, Captain Cool won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Warner and Johnny Bairstow opened the innings for their team. The Duo has made lot of partnerships in the recent matches and to the fact that they have made those, this time they couldn’t. Harbhajan Singh was introduced into the attack and he managed to pick Johnny Bairstow. Johnny was actually manufacturing runs in this IPL season but he was out-caught duck out this time. As usual David Warner, who is supposed to be in his great form, started of very well and was middling the ball quite well. Manish Pandey joined David Warner in assaulting CSK’s death and spin bowling. Pandey was criticized for his poor form by the franchise owners and the coach but it was his time to prove that he is no less when compared to others. Pandey scored a crucial knock of 83 runs. SRH managed to score 175 runs on the board, which was actually an above par score.
Chennai Super Kings has a very good batting line-up. Watson and Duplessis were ready to face shinny white ball. Duplessis was out run-out on a direct hit by Deepak Hoda in the start of the innings. Bhuvi and Khaleel Ahmed complemented each other well with the new ball. CSK had scored only 3 runs in the first 2 overs. The asking-rate had already reached 10 per over. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going they say! Shane Watson, who had a very bad start to this IPL season pulled of an absolute beauty of an innings. He scored 96 runs in 53 balls. It was wonderful to see a 37-year old middle those balls and hit it away to the boundaries. It was a treat to watch. CSK won by six wickets.
