India’s telecom operator Airtel has made an announcement on national roaming. Starting from April 1, Airtel customers can enjoy the free incoming calls all over the India. The company had made incoming calls free on national roaming for its subscribers.

And there will be no additional data charges on national roaming and home circle’s data tariff will be applicable in such cases.

Gopal Vittal, MD & CEO (India & South Asia), Bharti Airtel said,” This marks the death of national roaming and the whole country will now be like a local network for our customers, who will not have to think twice before making or receiving calls or using data while travelling outside their home base. Airtel has again set the benchmark in delivering best in class value backed by a great network experience.”

This teleco already launched innovative and affordable International Roaming packs for all major countries across the world. Those come with convenient validity options of 1 day, 10 days and 30 days.

Starting April 1, 2017, Airtel customers on International roaming without any (roaming) packs will be protected from bill shocks through an automatic adjustment, which is equal to the daily pack for that particular country.

This means the customer’s billing reaches the price of a one day pack for the country, he/she will be automatically moved to that packs. The Airtel further said that even after the exhaustion of pack benefits, customers can use calling and data features at reasonable rates.

Call charges of Airtel have been reduced up to 90% to Rs 3 per minute and data charges up to 99% to Rs 3 per MB across popular roaming destinations.
