The All India Council for Technical Education AICTE has started the registration process for the students of four deemed-to-be-universities. Students who are studying in those deemed universities Engineering Degrees and Diplomas obtained through distance mode were suspended by the Supreme Court (SC) last month. Students have to appear for a test following which their Degrees will stand validated.

The University Grant Commission and AICTE already started the registration of students enrolled in deemed-to-be-universities from 2001 to 2005. Candidates can register for the test till 15th January 2018, and their Engineering and Diploma Degrees will remain suspended till they clear the exam. The officials are going to conduct the exam in May or June 2018. Candidates have to appear for Practical examination along with the written test.

These four deemed-to-be-universities have awarded Diploma and Engineering Degrees to lakhs of candidates who have enrolled in correspondence courses. Nearly 4.5 lakh Diplomas and Engineering Degrees were issued by these four universities after 2014.

Lakhs of students are going to take the test who obtained their Degrees through correspondence from  Rajasthan; Institute of Advanced Studies in Education, JRN Rajasthan Vidyapeeth, Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation, and Allahabad Agriculture Research Institute between 2001-2005.
