Facebook recent action plan of blocking ad-blockers is again facing an obstacle to overcome. The fully updated version of Adblock Plus shows way to avoid ads in the Facebook news feed. Ad-block plus strips ads even from the Facebook’s new format of blocking ad-blockers. Facebook provided a new option to choose among the types of ads which users allow them to appear in their feed.
Facebook rolled out its new feature unblockable ads just two days ago, the release of new version of ad blocker is still a nightmare for the social networking giant. The company crafted ads especially to mislead these type of ad-blocking plugins. “We’re disappointed that ad blocking companies are punishing people on Facebook as these new attempts don’t just block ads but also posts from friends and Pages, This isn’t a good experience for people, and we plan to address the issue.” a Facebook spokesperson said.
Adblock plus is been ready with the counter attack “This sort of back-and-forth battle between the open-source ad-blocking community and circumventers has been going on since ad blocking was invented; so it’s very possible that Facebook will write some code that will render the filter useless — at any time,” Adblock Plus’ Ben Williams writes in a blog post. “If that happens, the ad-blocking community will likely find another workaround, then Facebook might circumvent again, etc,” he added.
Facebook removed the code which amplifies the identity ads in the first place. Later it was changed to ‘sponsored’ to appear more like regular posts. This cat and mouse game is all about the matter of finding the non-standards indicators being used by them. Earlier on Tuesday, Facebook supported its act of forcing ads on users by providing control over the types of ads what they see. Behind the reasonable argument of ads is the primary revenue for the Facebook, which is provided optional and free service. But the fact is that, people are using ad-blockers to maintain their privacy as the ads can track their interests around the web.
There are plenty of perspectives to be considered, and the reality is that the technology made ad-blocks available, and millions of users found it fruitful. And this might be the reason behind building the tools like ‘ad preferences’ which users can control their own apps.
