Acer has introduced its flagship and newest iteration of Spin 7 line-up. The device was unveiled at the IFA 2020, but this not just any device that Acer came up just for the sake of introducing a device. What’s so special about this laptop is that, rather than using the usual Intel processor, Acer has used the all-new Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 5G chip. This laptop is also going to be the first 5G laptop by Acer.
From the outside, the all-new Acer Spin 7 has some minor design updates like slight squared-off corners and gold accents. But the real changes are far significant than just some minor design changes. The major change in processor i.e. from usual Intel processor to new Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 means that the laptop will be able to serve the multiday battery life feature as advertised.
But that’s not just it.The company has also introduced an active Wacom pen, which is capable of offering 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity. This will enable you to use the pen for various purposes like designing and writing. The pen also can be fitted at the side of laptop where it can easily be charged. Here are some other features offered by Spin 7- 14-inch 1080 IPS touchscreen panel, a 360-degree hinge (which will help a lot while using the pen), antimicrobial Corning gorilla glass, two USB-C ports and a USB-A port.
Qualcomm has been continuously trying to incorporate the feature of ‘Always-connected windows’, which can be powered by the Snapdragon Chip 835 or 850. But the response from the industry has been quite vague and mixed.
The launch of the Spin 7 is said to be finalized near the date when Apple will launch its 12-inch MacBook, which is also going to be powered by an ARM-based chip. This is going to be very exciting as this is a very major shift for Apple, but this will also reveal how good Apple will adhere to its promise against all the new and equally equipped laptops in the market.
We don’t really know much about the upcoming Spin 7, but as advertised by the company and the dream team of Qualcomm and Acer, it really does promise to deliver a quality product that we all can look out for.
