Indian’s Aadhaar Card Data Stolen by CIA: WikiLeaks, Officials say No

WikiLeaks reports suggest that Aadhaar data is under the spies of CIA. On Thursday, WikiLeaks Claims that CIA is using tools developed by United States (US) Cross Match Technologies for cyber spying Aadhaar data. However, the reports were denied by the officials in India. Through the Twitter Account Wikileaks has stated about the CIA’s Spying on Indian’s Aadhar Data.

WikiLeaks is the non-profitable International organization that leaks secret documents, news leaks and classified media provided by unknown sources. WikiLeaks publishes secret documents of the project ExpressLane of CIA on Thursday. These documents show one of the cyber activities the CIA conducts against the liaison services which include National Security Agency (NSA), Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Cross Match Technologies is a US-based company specialized in Biometric software that provides various biometric solutions to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). UIDAI is mandated to provide 12 digit unique numbers called Aadhaar to all Indians.

Some officials from CIA, “The reports do not have any basis in fact. Aadhaar data is safely encrypted and is not accessible to any other agency”. They also added Cross Match is a global supplier of devices used for capturing biometric data. But the data collected cannot be transmitted to any company as vendors collect data in an encrypted that is transferred to Aadhaar services.

WikiLeaks suggests that Office for Technical Services (OTS), a branch with in CIA uses ExpressLane, a tool devised by Cross Match Technologies for online spying. ExpressLane is installed and run with the cover of upgrading the biometric software by OTS agents that visit the Liaison sites. The officers overseeing this procedure will remain unsuspicious, as the data exfiltration disguises behind a Windows installation splash screen.

Linking to an article on Cross Match’s Indian operations with its partner Smart Identity Devices Pvt Ltd which has enrolled 1.2 million Indian citizens on the Aadhaar database, WikiLeaks tweeted on Friday.

Wikileaks Reveals Medical Files of Hundreds of People Including Rape Victims

Wikileaks is accused of exposing personal data of hundreds of citizens which include rape victims, mentally ill and sick children. According to an analysis published by Associated Press, it is found that WikiLeaks released medical score reports of innocent people. As usual, it also published other sensitive information exploited by criminals which include phone numbers and identity records.

Committed to the exposing of government secrets, Wikileaks releases diplomatic cables and other classified information. The organisation faces some criticism for handling personal data after its emails, which have been published was sent to Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Turkey’s ruling AKP party back in July.

WikiLeaks warns Jack Dorsey that “We will start a rival Micro-blogging service like Twitter”

It is reported that Wikileaks collection of documents comprises of virus and spam along with the sensitive collection of the people. The information was first published earlier year by the foreign ministry of Saudi Arabia. This includes medical files of 124 people which include mentally ill patients, refugees and children.  More than 500 passports, employment files and academic records were uncovered by transparency activist Paul Dietrich, after conducting a partial scan of the Saudi cables.

In two different cases, the organisation also named teenage rape victims. It also published the name of a Saudi citizen who had been arrested for being gay which is a punishable offence under Saudi law. Other files have also been posted on Saudi marriages, divorces, personal debt histories, and custody battles contained information on people who married women with sexually transmitted diseases and other sensitive data.

After the exchange of words between the WikiLeaks and the Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, WikiLeaks says “We will start a rival service if this keeps up because WikiLeaks and our supporters are threatened by a space of feudal justice.”

The reactions to the Twitter’s permanent ban on the journalist Milo Yiannopoulos, one of the major grievances among the Twitter users who has been the ability of anonymous trolls to send abusive comments to other people. He is the Tech Editor at one of the famous news site Breitbart and also one of the most offensive users on the Twitter. WikiLeaks threatened Twitter to start its own Twitter because of the “cyber feudalism”.

Twitter Permanently Bans Its Conservative Writer Milo Yiannopoulos

After receiving many complaints and repeated suspensions, Twitter banned Milo Yiannopoulos after led an online troll against the star of Ghostbusters Leslie Jones, who promised to leave Twitter over her treatment and prompting a major outbreak on the social media.

Twitter reacted on this and said “People should be able to express diverse opinions and beliefs on Twitter. But no one deserves to be subjected to targeted abuse online, and our rules prohibit inciting or engaging in the targeted abuse or harassment of others,”

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey’s account was hacked

The report from the Verge, WikiLeaks Twitter account got the ban which is an example for the “Cyber feudalism” saying that Twitter had banned the conservative gay libertarian (Milo Yiannopoulos) for speaking wrong way to the star of the Ghostbusters (Leslie Jones).

Dorsey replied to WikiLeaks: “We don’t ban people for expressing their thoughts. Targeted abuse and inciting abuse against people, however, that’s not allowed.”

WikiLeaks says to Jack that “@jack It is time @Twitter got out of the censorship/justice game. Let users create communal filter lists if need be.
