This first test match contains few major changes in the Indian team. The Indian cricket team is playing their first game under the new coach Anil Kumble. Kumble has recently elected as the coach for the Indian Cricket team. Sanjay Bangar is the batting coach for the Indian Cricket Team. India is looking for a Hat-Trick series win, which would be followed by the earlier wins in the year 2007 under the captaincy of Rahul Dravid and in the year 2011 MS Dhoni, India won the series in West Indies.

Even Virat Kohli is eager to grab the Hat-Trick by winning the series after continues win over Sri Lanka and South Africa in the last year.

Indian Test opener Murali Vijay is all set to retain his place in the playing eleven for his consistent performances in the recent past and there was a doubt in picking the second opener whether it is Shikhar Dhawan or KL Rahul to partner Vijay in the opening Test

On the other hand Rahul is in good form scoring two fifties in the tour games. Kohli spoke to media saying“If you speak about KL Rahul and someone like Shikhar, it’s very difficult to take a call up front, in the first match of a series, because someone like Shikhar is a very dominant player, he can dominate sessions and bring you into the Test match, especially in conditions like West Indies”

Ind vs WI toss will happen half an hour before the match at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.

Caribbean Test Captain Jason Holder stated that “You know that’s the ultimate aim (to start doing well in Tests). We’ve got a young side, and it’s good to see we have some young faces. We’re looking to build something. In the last series we played in Australia, and we didn’t start well. Moving on into Test series, we got significantly better. All I stress and address with the guys is to keep improving. You can’t expect leaps and bounds, too much from a very young side. Once we get the steady progression regarding improvement, I think we’ll move forward.”

Team India Test Captain Virat Kohli says “Basically, that’s been the primary motive of the team, which we go with horses for courses. We see the conditions and the way the pitch is going to behave, (and then) we pick the best eleven, especially the bowling department. We specialise in choosing people according to the way, and the wicket is going to behave, maybe on the third and fourth day as well. So you need to keep everything in consideration and yeah it’s always a good thing to have a lot of options, because you pick the best side according to the conditions we are playing in.”

India have won the toss and have opted to bat first
