Twitter has stated that they will remove verification badges (Blue Tick mark) from Twitter users who violate its rules. The micro-blogging platform has announced the latest move as they are reworking on the entire Twitter verification system.
An official tweet from @Twitter Support stated that “We are conducting an initial review of verified accounts and will remove verification from accounts whose behavior does not fall within these new guidelines. “We will continue to review and take action as we work towards a new programme we are proud of”
It is known that Twitter has discontinued its account verifying process— that gives a blue check mark to public figures names on twitter.
Twitter Suspends Account Verification Process Saying its Broken
The decision came after people criticized the social platform for authenticating the account belonging to the organizer of the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, which left one dead in August. Jason Kessler, the organizer of the supremacist rally, was given the preferred status indicated by the blue badge.
Twitter at the time of halting the verification process stated that “We’re working on a new authentication and verification program. In the meantime, we are not accepting any public submissions for verification and have introduced new guidelines for the programme.”Within a week of its decision Stalling the verification process now twitter is working on revamp of the entire verification system.
