IPL Match Result: Sunrisers Hyderabad beats Royal Challengers Bangalore by 5 runs

Summary: The 39th match of IPL 2018 between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore held in Hyderabad was yet another last over thriller. SRH’s start was slow as it lost its opener batsmen Hales and Dhawan early in 3rd and 5th over. However its skipper Kane Williamson took over the reigns from there and played an excellent inning scoring 56 off 39 balls with the help of five 4s and two 6s, supported by Shakib who scored 35 off 32 balls, reaching a final score of 146 at loss of all 10 wickets.. RCB’s Southee and Siraj claimed two wickets each. On the other hand, RCB started well reaching 60 in 7 overs at a loss of 1 wicket. However, after the dismissal of its skipper Kohli at 39 in 10th over, the run rate started dropping and RCB was short of 5 runs at the end of the match. Shakib from SRH took two wickets in his spell of 4 overs.

The match between RCB and SRH although started on a slow pitch, turned out to be a thriller towards the end. After losing its opener batsmen Hales and Dhawan in the early overs, the skipper Williamson played a sane inning to take the team score to modest 146 for 10. At the time when Williamson and Shakib were playing, it seemed that the team would reach a score above 160. However with departure of both the batsmen, the wickets fell like house of cards with SRH losing 5 wickets in last two overs of the inning, out of which two were run outs. Finally, RCB restricted SRH at 146 for 10 with the help of Southee and Siraj who claimed 3 wickets each.

RCB, on the other hand started on an attacking mode with Kohli looking in great form. With RCB skipper on the crease, it seemed like an easy match for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, the run rate started dropping significantly with his departure, and RCB lost another two wickets of AB de Villiers and Moeen Ali in the next two consecutive overs. Mandeep Singh and Grandhomme stayed in the crease till last but inspite of that, RCB fell short by 5 runs and ended up losing the match. SRH’s bowlers did a fantastic job by defending a total of 146. Sandeep Sharma finished his spell at 20 for 1 in 4 overs whereas Shakib claimed two wickets for 36 runs. Kane Williamson was declared as Player of the Match. This was Sunrisers’ fifth consecutive win in the tournament.

 

With this win, the Sunrisers are sitting at top of the table with 16 points in 10 matches whereas RCB remains at the 6th position with 6 points in 10 matches.

IPL Match Result: Chennai Super Kings beats Sunrisers Hyderabad by 4 runs

Summary: Sunrisers Hyderabad loses a close match against Chennai Super Kings. CSK batted first and scored 182 runs losing 3 wickets. Ambati Rayadu was on fire and scored a massive 79 runs off 37 balls. Raina and Dhoni were unbeaten at 54 and 25 respectively. Bhuvneshwar and Rashid Khan from SRH took 1 wicket each. After losing 3 early wickets in 1st, 3rd and 5th overs, SRH’s skipper Kane Williamson took the team score to 150 when he got caught by Ravindra Jadega in 18th over. He scored 84 off 51 balls. Pathan and Shakib scored 45 and 24 runs respectively. Deepak Chahar from CKS bowled an excellent spell taking 3 wickets for 15 runs. It was a close finish and finally CSK won the match by 4 runs.

It was Sunday and the match between SRH and CSK held at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad provided enough entertainment to the spectators, specially the CSK fans. Despite losing its star batsman Watson early in 4th over and scoring just 41/2 in 9 overs, CSK still managed to reach a decent score of 182 at a loss of 3 wickets in 20 overs. Raina and Rayadu were seen attacking the SRH bowlers. Rayadu scored 79 off 37 balls with the help of nine 4s and four 6s. CSK scored 141 runs in the last 11 overs thereby taking the total score to 182.

 

Sunrisers Hyderabad had a troubled start as they lost 3 wickets for just 22 runs in 4.2 overs. However their skipper Kane Williamson played a fantastic inning followed by Yusuf Pathan. Williamson scored 84 off 51 balls hitting five 4s and 6s each whereby Pathan scored 45 off 27 balls. Both Williamson and Pathan went back to pavilion in 18th and 19th over, however the hope was still there with Rashid Khan scoring 17 off 4 balls, but even that could not save the match or them and they lost by meagre 4 runs to CSK.

 

With this match, the CSK rises to top of the points table with 8 points in 5 matches, whereas SRH is at no. 4 with 6 points in 5 matches.

IPL Match Result: Sunrisers Hyderabad loses their first match in IPL 2018 against Kings XI Punjab by 15 runs

Summary: Kings XI Punjab won the toss and elected to bat first. They put up a target of 194 in front of Hyderabad, who could manage to add 178 for 4 in 20 overs. The highlight of the entire match was Chris Gayle who scored an unbeaten 104 off 63 balls, the first century of IPL 2018. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rashid Khan and S Kaul from SRH took one wicket each. SRH’s skipper and Manish Pandey scored 54 and 57 runs respectively, adding 76 runs partnership for the 3rd wicket.

The match on Thursday played between KXIP and SRH held at Mohali was all about Chris Gayle coming back in form. This was Chris Gayle’s second match in IPL 2018 and in both the innings he proved that he is here to stay. Chris Gayle scored unbeaten 104 with the help of 1 four and 11 sixes and begged Player of the Match award for straight two consecutive matches. Apart from Gayle, Nair scored 31 of 21 balls and Finch contributed unbeaten 14 off 6 balls during the death over which helped KXIP scoring a total of 193 runs at a loss of 3 wickets.

SRH’s start was unfortunate as their star batsmen Shikhar Dhawan got retired hurt in the first ball itself, which led to a slow start for SRH. However SRH skipper Kane Williamson and Manish Pandey played well and managed a 76 run partnership for the 3rd wicket, but that could not bring any rescue to them as towards the end of the match, the run rate kept on increasing. Despite Manish Pandey remaining unbeaten SRH could not manage to chase 194 successfully, thereby losing the match to KXIP by 15 runs. Barinder Sran and Mohit Sharma begged two wickets each for KXIP.

 

This was first loss for SRH in IPL 2018. However, SRH and KXIP still occupies the same pre match position of 2nd and 3rd in points table with 6 points each, giving SRH an edge over KXIP due to net run rate.

Sunrisers Hyderabad Convincingly Beat Rajasthan Royals

Summary: In their opening match in IPL 2018 Sunrisers Hyderabad registered a massive win of 9 wickets against Rajasthan Royals. RR managed to put a small total of 125/9 with Sanju Samson being the highest run scorer with 49 runs. Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to chase the total easily with Shikhar Dhawan’s knock of 77 runs.

The match number 4 of IPL 2018 saw Sunrisers Hyderabad winning the toss and deciding to field. With their balling game on top the hosts were able to restrict Rajasthan Royals to a meagre 125 at the loss of 9 wickets. In response SRH could chase down the total in just 15.5 overs with a massive 121 run partnership between Kane Williamson and Shikhar Dhawan.

Shikhar Dhawan was the clear hero of the evening as he remained unconquered scoring 77 runs off just 57 balls. The explosive inning included 13 fours and a six. On the other end giving him company was yet another hero of SRH, the captain Williamson himself, who also remained not out at 36 runs scored off 35 balls.

While the batting of SRH was top class, it won’t be wrong to say that it was their bowlers who almost won the game for them during the first inning itself by taking consistent wickets and restricting the opposition at just 125.

SRH clearly has one of the best bowling sides in this season of IPL 2018. Every bowler seemed to get a piece of Rajasthan Royals last night. Siddhart Kaul along with Shakib Al Hasan managed 2 wickets each while, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Billy Stanlake and the Afghan leg-spinner Rashid Khan bagged one wicket each.

With both teams, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad being ex IPL champions, this match was just the beginning and it is a long way to go before either of them truly shine the 10th season of IPL this year.
