Brilliant Knock from MS Dhoni!

What a match it was! It was a great contest between the Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. Well, it was once again the MSD Show at the Chinnaswamy. The pitch was totally a batting friendly pitch and toss was crucial. As usual Former Indian Skipper, MSD won the toss and elected to bowl first. Dhoni had some issues with his back for which he was rested for the previous match. DJ bravo made a comeback to the playing eleven. RCB had no changes in the team.

Parthiv and King Kohli opened the innings for their team. Deepak Chahar was brilliant with his ball and kept it pretty simple.  Kohli was out-caught by MSD bowled by Deepak Chahar. Shardul Takhur and Deepak Chahar complimented each other well. Next-in form batsman AB Devilliers had lot of responsibilities to take on his back as RCB were off to a shaky start. AB and Parthiv made a decent partnership in the middle. Jadeja and Imran Tahir managed to pick well set batsman Marcus Stoinis and AB Devilliers. Well, the boys pulled of a decent target of 162 on the board.

Shane Watson and Faf Duplessis opened the innings for CSK. Watson’s poor form continued again. Faf Du Plessis tried to pull the bowl and it fell on the toe end of the bat. He was out-caught at mid off, and the catch was taken by the Mr. 360, AB Devilliers. Poor form continued again for Kedar Jadhav and Raina. Whatta Ball it was by Speedster Dale Steyn. He yorked Suresh Raina on a very first ball.  Next-in was THALA- Dhoni, The man behind the World Cup, The Champions Trophy, and The Asia cup once again proved age is just a number. At the age of 37, He played champion of an innings. Asking rate was around 12 when he was batting and he took it very deep. 26 runs of last over and you can see Dhoni with clean and composed mind walking through the pitch. The ball was thrown to Umesh Yadav to bowl the last over. MSD’s sheer power helped him hit the ball out of the stadium. Crowd started chanting Mahi! Mahi! Mahi! 2 runs of the last ball. Mahi couldn’t push the ball and shardhul Takhur was run-out by parthiv patel. CSK lost by 2 runs. Thriller of a game! Congratulations RCB!

IPL Match Result: Sunrisers Hyderabad beats Royal Challengers Bangalore by 5 runs

Summary: The 39th match of IPL 2018 between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore held in Hyderabad was yet another last over thriller. SRH’s start was slow as it lost its opener batsmen Hales and Dhawan early in 3rd and 5th over. However its skipper Kane Williamson took over the reigns from there and played an excellent inning scoring 56 off 39 balls with the help of five 4s and two 6s, supported by Shakib who scored 35 off 32 balls, reaching a final score of 146 at loss of all 10 wickets.. RCB’s Southee and Siraj claimed two wickets each. On the other hand, RCB started well reaching 60 in 7 overs at a loss of 1 wicket. However, after the dismissal of its skipper Kohli at 39 in 10th over, the run rate started dropping and RCB was short of 5 runs at the end of the match. Shakib from SRH took two wickets in his spell of 4 overs.

The match between RCB and SRH although started on a slow pitch, turned out to be a thriller towards the end. After losing its opener batsmen Hales and Dhawan in the early overs, the skipper Williamson played a sane inning to take the team score to modest 146 for 10. At the time when Williamson and Shakib were playing, it seemed that the team would reach a score above 160. However with departure of both the batsmen, the wickets fell like house of cards with SRH losing 5 wickets in last two overs of the inning, out of which two were run outs. Finally, RCB restricted SRH at 146 for 10 with the help of Southee and Siraj who claimed 3 wickets each.

RCB, on the other hand started on an attacking mode with Kohli looking in great form. With RCB skipper on the crease, it seemed like an easy match for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, the run rate started dropping significantly with his departure, and RCB lost another two wickets of AB de Villiers and Moeen Ali in the next two consecutive overs. Mandeep Singh and Grandhomme stayed in the crease till last but inspite of that, RCB fell short by 5 runs and ended up losing the match. SRH’s bowlers did a fantastic job by defending a total of 146. Sandeep Sharma finished his spell at 20 for 1 in 4 overs whereas Shakib claimed two wickets for 36 runs. Kane Williamson was declared as Player of the Match. This was Sunrisers’ fifth consecutive win in the tournament.

 

With this win, the Sunrisers are sitting at top of the table with 16 points in 10 matches whereas RCB remains at the 6th position with 6 points in 10 matches.

IPL Match Result: Mumbai Indians Register Massive Win of 46 Runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore

Summary: Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and elected to field. Mumbai Indians put up a massive total of 213 runs at a loss of 6 wickets in the first inning. MI skipper Rohit Sharma accelerated 94 runs in just 52 balls whereas Evin Lewis scored 65 in 42 balls. Umesh Yadav and CJ Anderson took two wickets each for RCB. In response RCB could manage just 167 for 8 in 20 overs as no one except Kohli could score big for them. The RCB skipper managed an impressive 92 in 62 balls. Krunal Pandya took 3 wickets whereas Bumrah and McClenaghan managed 2 wickts each.

It was Mumbai Indians and skipper Rohit Sharma who stole the show on Tuesday night. Although RCB got to a dream start when their opening pacer Umesh Yadav picked up 2 wickets, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan, in the first two balls of the match. However, Rohit Sharma and Evin Lewis with their aggressive batting helped MI to score massive 213 runs. Lewis scored 65 runs with the help of 6 fours and 5 sixes whereas Rohit scored 94. Rohit’s 10 fours and 5 sixes helped MI to put up a great total of 213 against RCB.

Lewis departed in the 12th over whereas Rohit practically was there till the end of the match, being caught at the second last ball of the inning. Almost all the ballers of RCB were at the receiving end with majority of them ending up with ER of more than 10.

Chasing the huge total of 214 runs, RCB managed to score 40 in first 4 overs. However McClenaghan managed to pick up 2 important wickets in the 5th over, Knock and De Villiers. Kohli played brilliantly scoring a massive unbeaten 92 of 62 balls, but unfortunately no other batsman was able to stay in the crease for a long time. None of the batman apart from the skipper could score more than 20, thus limiting the run score by RCB to 167.

All the bowlers from Mumbai Indians could manage an economy rate of less than 8 except Rahman who proved to be expensive with no wickets. Krunal Pandya was impressive with 28-3.

With this win, Mumbai Indians registered their first win in IPL 2018 and ran up the points table at no 6 with 2 points.
