This year’s U.S. Open is the 118th version teeing off at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club on 14th June at 6:45 a.m. It will be after 56 years that 20 amateurs will feature in it. It was in 1962 that these many amateurs competed at Oakmont Country Club.
Less than a week before, there were 23 amateurs present for this championship, but three of the sectional qualifiers turned pro before their U.S. Open debuts. These players were Cole Miller, Sulman Raza, and Mickey DeMorat.
In the 118th U.S. Open, Dustin Johnson, who is currently World No. 1, is seen as the favorite at 8-1. He has won the St. Jude Classic too just last Sunday. The other players who are emerging as favorites at 14-1 odds are Justin Thomas, Justin Rose, Rory McIlroy, and Rickie Fowler.
Fantasy sports are hugely popular these days and if you are the one who is interested to place bets on fantasy golf tournament, then you should consider what SportsLine’s prediction model depicts.
The prediction model that is developed by Mike McClure, the DFS pro shows that Patrick Reed will emerge victorious in 118th U.S. Open.
The SportsLine model is bang on as is evident from the past results. Last year, it predicted that Sergio Garcia will win the Masters and Brooks Koepka the US Open. In the 2017 British Open too, it predicted that Jordan Spieth will seal his third major victory, although three rounds were still left to play.
Earlier this year, at the Valspar Championship, the SportsLine’s model was in favor of Tiger Woods and it turned out to be true. In the US Open Woods is given 18-1 odds and SportsLine has predicted that he will finish in top-10.
