The Cabinet Committee on Election Affairs (CCEA) had given permission to set up 50 new Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country. By the newly added schools will provide education for 50,000 students. As per the official reports, the schools will set up under civil/defence sector for 1st to 5th classes.
For these new Kendriya Vidyalayas, about 650 regular teacher posts will be created. The government starts the Kendriya Vidyalaya recruitment for the staff in the new schools. The total project cost for the new 50 new schools is 1,160 crore which is based on the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) norms.
At present, there are 1,142 functional Kendriya Vidyalayas under KVS which also includes three aboard schools in Kathmandu, Moscow and Tehran. In addition to this, already 12 lakh students are studying in the existing KVS. The new Kendriya Vidyalayas will address the educational needs of the children of government employees do not face difficulties in education when transfer from one location to other.

The Kendriya Vidyalayas has been operational for over 50 years, and at least four-acre land required in respective cities for setting up new schools. Kendriya Vidyalayas considered as the model schools in the country in terms of physical infrastructure. Candidates have to qualify in the Kendriya Vidyalaya TET examination to get select in the Kendriya Vidyalaya recruitment.
