Well, it was a wonderful day at Feroshah Kotla, Delhi. India took on the Aussies at their home ground. Skipper Virat Kohli had a lot of combinations in his mind, which he had addressed at the post-match presentation. Ravindra Jadeja came in as a replacement for Yuzvendar Chahal, and Shami in as a replacement for KL Rahul. The Skipper felt that he is short of an all-rounder in his team.
Aaron Finch, skipper of Cricket Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. His decision made sense as the pitch was dry, and it was an excellent batting pitch. There were two changes to his side. Marcus Stoinis came in as a replacement for Shaun Marsh and Lyon came in as a replacement for Behrendroff.
Aussies started off well as the ball was coming to the bat slowly in the first power play. Usman Khwaja and Finch were showing their grit in the middle, even though Indian bowlers were bowling to their weakness. Captain Kohli bought a spinner in the middle of first 10 overs and he got a breakthrough. The amazing partnership between Khwaja and Finch was taken off by Jadeja. Peter Handscomb and Khawaja pulled the match totally to their side. The left-handed opener, Khawaja managed to score a biggy!!!!
India was asked to chase 272 runs off 300 balls. India was off to a shaky start. Shikar Dhawan was sent home early. Rohit Sharma was set initially, but there was a lot of pressure building on him. King Kohli was back to his basics, he stroked for a boundary at the start of his innings. Aaron Finch asked Stoinis to join the attack against Kohli. The change for the Aussies worked. King Kohli departed very early.
A string of low scores continued for Rishab Pant. Early wickets changed the match scenario completely. At 138 runs, 6 wickets were down. Right-handed batsman Kedar Jadhav and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar managed to put up a partnership of 80+ runs. Well, the pressure started building up at 11 runs required per over, Indian batsman couldn’t manage to score at the death overs. J Richardson and Pat Cummins devasted Indian’s batting line up completely.
It was a great series for Aussies, they managed to win the series away from their home. Team India is getting ready for the next big event, the Indian Premier League. Thanks for reading!!
