Former Australian Captain, Ricky Ponting says “England has all the chance to win the WC 2019”

Former Australian Skipper, Ricky Ponting had been a star performer not only as a Captain, but also as a player. He is the only captain who has been awarded as two-time World Cup winning captain. He has been in and around with Cricket Australia from many years.  He has taken his time-out to pick his favorite teams who can make it for the World Cup.

He picked England as his favorite side as the tournament is going to talk place in United Kingdom, the pitch, and the conditions might favor them. Eoin Morgan’s side has been in the grove and playing many matches prior to the World Cup. The team is well-equipped with a great composition. They have players with all attributes.

“Initially, it would be England for two reasons. England have started playing well in limited overs and the tournament will be played on home. Naturally, they will have some home advantage,” Ponting told Times of India.

Ponting feels Australia and Team India might be tough competitors for England.  England is now been ranked as No.1 ODI team and they beat Pakistan 4-0. They showed a great composure. In all four matches they could manage to score 330+ runs on the board.

He also added that South Africa, Newzealand, and West Indies can also spoil the party as they have quality players in their side especially the Windies, that too Andrew Russell in the Den. He had been absolutely ruthless in Indian Premier League. Hope he continues the same form.

“Defending Champions Australia has been working on their team composition. Mitchell Starc looks fit and fine. With the comeback of Steve Smith and David Warner into the squad, makes Cricket Australia a stronger contestant in this World Cup,” said Ricky Ponting.

“The inclusion of these two cricketers (Smith and Warner) would definitely enhance Australia’s performance in the World Cup. Australia did not do well while they were away from the team. I’m sure, not only me, but the whole team is really excited to have them back,” he said
