BHIM app cashback offers: Indian Government initiative UPI-based BHIM app is now planning to offer higher cashback from August 15. As of now, BHIM app cashback rate is at Rs.25 and is expected to increase starting this Independence Day.

The BHIM app was launched by Government of India back in December to promote the cashless economy. The app notes 1.1 crore downloads across both iOS and Android platform within 20 days of launch. Recently, NPCI MD and CEO A P Hota has revealed that the increase in the cashback comes into effect from August 15.

“We have communicated to the government that the cashback incentives need to be increased so that more people will start using it. We are waiting for the approval from the government which is expected by August 15,” says A P Hota.

Reports state that government had allocated more than Rs 450 crore for BHIM app cashback incentives. These BHIM cash backs have been returned to users over a period of six months starting this April. This cash back from BHIM app will increase the usage of digital wallets and services.

Paytm offers up to Rs 750 cashback on flight tickets bookings and Rs 150 cashback on movie tickets among. These cashback offers to attract customers to use digital payments and engage users as a one-stop destination.

Besides the increase in BHIM app cashback, a new version of the BHIM app will be rolled out on the same day. The new version BHIM app 1.4 is expected to boast an integrated QR code and improved performance. “Among other updates, Bharat quick response (QR) code will be integrated into the app which should be another booster for increasing transactions on BHIM,” Hota said.

WhatsApp is likely to launch peer-to-peer payments in India in the coming six months. The Facebook-owned messaging app is hiring an expertise head of digital transactions. This WhatsApp digital payments option in the app mainly deals with UPI (Unified Payments Interface), Aadhaar (India’s biometric identity system) and BHIM.

Recently, WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton said that the company may debut into digital payments and that it is in ‘early stages’ of investigating the segment. WhatsApp emerged as the most popular messaging service in India with over 200 million users in the country. The app is already being used for communicating with customers by small and individual business owners.

BharatQR code Launched to Increase Digital Payment System in India

The government of India introduced various services to increase the digital payments in the country through mobile wallets and other online payment systems. In this process, today the government has taken a step further and launched QR (quick response) code which known as BharatQR code. Through this people are allowed to pay for the items without swiping their plastic cards.

The BharatQR code is designed by the NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) Visa and MasterCard.  Consumers are no need to scan different QR code at the merchant which provided by the various payment networks. Instead of that, they are allowed to scan the QR code through the acquiring bank mobile application.

This payment acceptance solution works through MasterCard, Visa and RuPay accounts. The BharatQR code is formulated under the instructions of Reserve Bank of India. “There is an implied suggestion that this (payment) sector needs to free of licensing mechanism and once a set of criteria fixed, any number of entities meeting those standards should be allowed to function. We differ from this idea,” said by the RBI Deputy Governor R Gandhi.

To start the payment process through BharatQR code, first users have to link their credit/debit cards to the app and have to select the respective card during the payment. The app linked with MasterCard, Visa and RuPay platforms usually comes with inbuilt QR code reader.

Users have to link the card or bank accounts to the app as a one-time activity. While making the payment, users have to scan the BharatQR code through the mobile app. The amount you purchased will transfer from your account to merchant’s bank account. The BharatQR code is the second digital payment system successfully introduced by the government after Unified Payments Interface (UPI) based BHIM app.

The Indian government is taking a step forward to make India a less-cash or cashless economy. BHIM App is an application which allows the people to send or receive money via Unified Payments Interface (UPI). It developed by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).

The government made the availability of BHIM App only on Android devices, and they launched a new feature called Aadhar payments. Through this people can send money directly to the recipient’s 12-digit Aadhar number via BHIM App.

By sending money, BHIM App can be useful if the recipient doesn’t have any virtual payment address for UPI. It is an alternative to entering the account number and bank IFSC. Apart from this, people have to check some important points for paying money through Aadhar number via BHIM App.

The person which you are sending money must have their Aadhaar number linked to bank account. If not, in that case, the payment via Aadhaar won’t work. BHIM doesn’t show the account holder’s name, so the user has to double-check the number before sending money. This was done to prevent the people from misusing the app to troll Aadhaar number.

The process to send money to Aadhar number via BHIM App is as follows

  • Install BHIM App from Android Play store.
  • Add your bank account.
  • If you are using the app for the first time you need to set a password.
  • After successful mobile verification, the apps show you the list of banks.
  • Click on the Send money option.
  • Tap on the payment method, choose Aadhaar pay.
  • Enter recipient’s Aadhaar number.
  • Tap on the verify option which checks if the Aadhaar number linked to bank or not.
  • Double-check the number before sending the money.
  • Enter the amount and mention the reason for payment.
