More than half of the NFL’s team has turned its focus to next season as the draft is only 4 months away. At this point of time, if any mock draft is compiled, underclassmen need to decide till 15th Jan whether they have to stay in college or not.
Let’s have a look at the initial look of how the first round might pan out:
Browns- Sam Darnold, QB, Southern California: The 24-turnover season has emphasized the footwork and ability of Darnold to identify coverage. A few compare his play-making, his style and potential with Hue Jackson and GM John Dorsey.
Giants-Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA: In Rosens, the Giants will be selected as one of the best mechanically well pocket passers in years. His outspoken style is worth concern, but his ability can easily bypass it.
Colts- Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn State: Barkley can do everything to be a transformational piece and will help Andrew Luck to give quarterback that he will need in a potential return.
Broncos- Quenton Nelson, G, Notre Dame: Quarterback is given the priority concern in Denver. John Elway said that there was no doubt that the team needed to improve at this point. Nelson is actually the best lineman in the draft till now.
Jets- Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma: Mayfield has the amazing ability of decision making and accuracy to stay in the NFL. His talent can touch the pinnacle if he is paired with a creative coach and offensive coordinator.
Bears- Calvin Ridley, WR, Alabama: No doubt, there is no clear cut option at receiver, but Ridley has the potential to threaten defenses. This process opens up opportunities within the offense.
Bengals- Mike MCGlinchey, OT, Notre Dame: Inability of providing consistent protection keeps Cincinnati behind in achieving sustainable success. On the other hand, McGlinchey is very experienced and well-rounded, but he might need some time to cooperate with NFL’s elite speed rushers for sure.
Redskins- Derwin James, S, Florida State: He faced many difficulties in 2016 that tempered the buzz of most physically gifted defender of college football team. Although medical checks are compulsory, but James’ ability to be deployed in multiple roles can keep him in demand.
These updates are enough to hook the viewers for the final events.
