Along with the Mi MIX smartphone, Xiaomi wraps off its new action camera at the ongoing CES event this year. The pocket-sized camera Called Yi 4K+ Action Camera, developed by Xiaomi’s sub-brand. As the name itself says, the Yi 4K+ Action Camera captures 4K resolution video at 60 fps. The first in the category camera claims double the rate of GoPro’s Hero5 Black.
The new Yi 4K+ camera offers twice the frame rate when compared to its predecessor Yi 4K. It employs Ambarella H2 SoC processor with 2GB of RAM which offers a maximum bit rate of 120Mbps. The processor is also said to be the first 14nm video processing SoC. It consumes low power while delivering 4K Ultra HD videos.
Yi 4K+ camera comes with Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS). The camera offers USB Type-C support and can shoot in RAW format. It also features live streaming and VR support. The Yi 4K+ Action Camera measures 65 x 30 x 42mm in dimensions and weighs around 96.3 gram in weight.
It sports seven layers glass lens with f/2.8 aperture and 155-degree field-of-view. The 2.91-inch touchscreen display offers a screen resolution of 640×360p at 330ppi. The Yi 4K+ action camera makes use of Sony IMX377 12-megapixel CMOS image sensor with Exmor R. Users can choose to shoot 480p resolution as well with a wide field-of-view. Shooting time-lapse videos in 4K is also enabled with set intervals of up to 60 seconds.
The Yi 4K+ action camera also allows slow motion recordings of 720p resolution with 60\120\240 fps at rates of 2\4\8. The camera comes with 2.4G/5G Dual band support and comes with 5 GHz Wi-Fi and built-in Bluetooth 4.0. The action camera is not waterproof but can resist up to 40 meters under water.
Pricing and availability of the Yi 4K+ action camera aren’t announced in the event. Comparing to Yi 4K, the price is expected to be around $350 (approximately Rs 23,850).
