Microsoft had launched Windows 10, updated version of Operating system worldwide on 29 July 2015. The Company had announced that all the existing valid Windows users would be receiving the newer version at free of cost.

The latest edition of the operating system features some exciting features which include virtual digital assistant Cortana and Internet Explorer revamped as Microsoft Edge. With the inclusion of such interesting features and a substantial boost to speed and performance could be the reasons for the fast adoption of Windows 10.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced that Windows 10 had reached 270 million users at company’s annual developer conference Build 2016 event on 31st March 2016.Now according to an official blog release of Windows the number had jumped to 300 million.

Reaching a milestone of 300 million machines within 10 months after the launch is a tremendous achievement. The numbers shown includes users of PC, laptop, mobile, tablets, and Xbox devices. The Redmond-based major software company has not made any changes to the base codes. The company is very keen to reach their ultimate target of 1 billion Windows 10 devices within three years.

The Software firm is working on it by making significant changes and updates to its operating system to enable users to feel secure & safe. As a part of their strategy, Microsoft skipped the layout and designs of windows 8 in the latest edition and replaced them with the familiar ones of its older 7 version.

According to the official blog of Microsoft Windows the most recent achievements of Windows 10 are

  • Over 63 billion minutes were spent on Microsoft Edge in March alone, with 50% growth in minutes since the last quarter. Exclusively available on Windows 10, Microsoft Edge is our modern browser for helping you get things done.
  • Cortana, the personal digital assistant in Windows 10, has helped answer over 6 billion questions since launch.
  • Apps that come with Windows 10, including Photos, Groove Music, and Movies & TV are seeing millions of active users each month, including more than 144 million people using Photos.
  • And, the Windows Store continues to grow daily with new Universal Windows Platform apps like Facebook, Instagram, and Facebook Messenger; updated UWP apps from Vine, Hulu, Netflix and Twitter; and popular PC games including Rising of the Tomb Raider and Quantum Break.

As announced earlier the free upgrade for Windows 7 & 8.1 users to Windows 10 would end on 29th July and it will cost $119 for the same from the next day.
