Twitter announces a new update early this Thursday which aims to make the social app way more competitive with messaging regulars. This includes the newly upgraded iMessage arriving on iOS10. Twitter says it’s releasing more number of new Direct Messages features comprising things like typing indicators, Read Receipts, and web link preview for instance.

Typing indicators and Read receipts are the features which are quite common in all present day mobile messaging apps like Facebook and WhatsApp Messenger. Now, Twitter will also notify which user have seen the shared post on group messages, or will indicate “Seen by everyone” when the whole group sees the item. Many users turn off this, as will not welcome Read Receipts. Twitter provides the similar option in settings to disable, so they don’t feel any pressure to respond to their messages.
