People are eagerly waiting for the Union Budget 2017, because it is the first budget after Demonetisation. This is the fourth budget by the Narendra Modi government. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announces the Union Budget 2017-2018 in Lok Sabha. Arun Jaitley said the move of Demonitization by our Prime Minister will not have an impact on the economy.
Arun Jaitley said, he took immense pride in presenting the Joint Budget including Railway Budget.
Finance Minister has announces the online education platform “SWAYAM” while presenting the Union Budget 2017.
What is SWAYAM?
Indian Government initiates the SWAYAM to provide quality education to every student. It is an online platform developed with the main objective of taking best teaching learning resources to all. SWAYAM offers 350 online courses; one will be able to access these courses via DTH channels.
This platform was developed by Minister of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). SWAYAM can host 2000 courses and 80000 hours of learning.
SWAYAM courses include video lectures, study material, self-assessment tests and also online discussion platform for students which are interactive. SWAYAM courses are collected and prepared by over 1,000 teachers across the India, which are free of cost.
The government take this step to enrich the learning experience through audio-video and multi-media and state of the art pedagogy/ technology. Seven National Coordinators has appointed by government namely; UGC for post-graduation education, NPTEL for engineering, CEC for under-graduate education, NCERT & NIOS for school education, IGNOU for out of the school students and IIMB for management studies. Students from class 9th to PG can attend these classes
Certificate will be given to students on completion of the courses with a little fee. Students who want certificate will have to registered. At the end of the each course, students will take the proctored examination. Marks and grade secured in the exam could be transferred to the academic record of the students.
