Ramkumar, the main accused one in the sensational murder case of software engineer Swathi at the Nungambakkam railway station, is committed Suicide in the Chennai’s, Puzhal jail.
According to the reports, Kumar bit a live electric wire in the Puzhal jail on Sunday. He rushed to Government Royapettah Hospital where he was declared as dead when brought to the hospital. The Chennai police had claimed that Ramkumar slit his throat when they went to arrest him in July.
Swathi was hacked to death, allegedly by P. Ramkumar, a 22-year old engineering college student. On June 24, while Swathi was waiting to board a train at Nungambakkam suburban railway station to her workplace in the city outskirts.

This whole incident was caught on CCTV, and the Chennai police traced him days later after the murder. When they went to arrest him at his house at Tirunelveli, he tried to committed suicide. There are several politicians has involved in this case.
As per the prison official, Ramkumar had pulled out the live wire from the dispensary block which has nine cells. The switchboard had switches for all electric connections of nine cells. Ramkumar has bitten to kill himself around 4:30 AM.
Later the security guard rushed and disconnected the power supply. When they came, he has succumbed on the spot. He was taken to the Government Royapettah hospital, and the doctors declared he died on arrival.

Ramkumar’s family and relatives had a huge suspension on his death and demanded an enquiry into his death. Parents and close relatives are allowed to see his body only in the presence of the magistrate, the police official said.
