Sony has officially launched its flagship models Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact at the IFA 2016. Tokyo-based giant unveiled devices possess similar looks with the dual speaker facing in the front. New Xperia XZ is crafted with ALKALEIDO, a trademarked Aluminum material. This new smartphone from Sony will be a successor to Xperia X which made its launch at MWC event earlier this year. Both the Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact are said to be dust and water resistant

Coming to the features, Sony Xperia XZ features a screen size of 5.2-inch with IPS display and Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution with Gorilla Glass protection on top. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM. Sony Xperia XZ ships with an internal memory of 32GB which is expandable up to 200GB. The smartphone also comes with a Dual SIM variant for a better network connectivity and an internal memory of 64GB is provided in this variant.

Sony Xperia X Compact and Xperia XZ leaked Specifications

On the other hand, Sony is offering Xperia X Compact with a smaller display of 4.6-inch HD (1280 X 720) IPS display. Xperia X Compact is powered by a Snapdragon 650 hexacore SoC processor coupled with 3GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage like its sibling Xperia XZ.

Both Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact packs a new 23MP IMX300 sensor and includes, color detection, Triple Sensing Autofocus that come with PDAF and laser autofocus. A steady shot intelligence Active Mode using the 5-axis is enabled, and OIS is found missing. Xperia X compact sports only 5MP front camera while Xperia XZ is provided with a 13 MP selfie shooter. The steady shot mode can correct the angle and roll, and shift shakes with the rear camera. Seems, Sony is also providing manual controls in the camera app.

Xperia XZ packs a battery of 2900mAh which also supports Quick Charge 3.0 support. Whereas Xperia X is backed by a 2700mAh battery with Quick Charge 2.0 option. The handset comes with an integrated power button on the right edge with the fingerprint sensor. The device has a wide range of connectivity options which includes NFC, GPS, LTE, GLONASS, USB type-C port, Wi-fi, Bluetooth. Sony Xperia XZ and Xperia X compact measures thicknesses of 8.1mm and 9.5mm respectively where Xperia XZ weighs a 161grams, and Xperia X Compact weighs 135 grams. The prices for these handsets were tagged at €699 for Xperia XZ and X Compact is priced at €449.
