If you got crores of money in your personal bank account, how could you feel? The same thing happens for Punjab Taxi driver Balwinder Singh. Taxi Driver in Punjab Balwinder Singh’s Jan Dhan Account had credited with Rs 9806 crore, and he was surprised after came to know.
Punjab Taxi Driver Balwinder Singh on 4 November to found a sum of Rs 98,05,95,12,231 had credited into his State Bank of Patiala account. It is a little less than Rs 9806 crore and a little over 98 billion. Like every day he started his daily life, but November 4 is the most memorable day for him. He found the big amount in his Jan Dhan Yojana account which is almost equal to Flipkart’s revenue for the last financial year.
However, his celebration over the biggest credit entry into his account ended very soon. His account has taken away next day. The money from his account was debited very next day.
“I made many rounds around the bank, but nobody listened to me. Bank officials kept my passbook with them on November 7 and allotted a new passbook without the large entry. I opened an account under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana Account, and my balance is around Rs 3,000,” said, Balwinder Singh.
Bank Manager Ravinder Kumar refused to reveal any details. I-T department started an investigation on this big amount into the account. The main branch Manager Sandeep Garg had given an explanation about this incident. He said, “The account holder happens to be a selected vendor for the bank. While passing a credit entry of Rs 200, an assistant manager (accounts) wrongly inserted the bank’s 11-digit internal banking general ledger account number in the account column. So, the mistake noticed the very next day.”
Deputy Commissioner Bhupinder Singh Rai has confirmed the matter. A team of income tax officials from Barnala, Sangrur, and Patiala led by assistant commissioner Pritpal Singh carried out investigation till midnight.
