The Indian Railways is looking forward to easing the process of ticket bookings. In a bid to promote ease of ticketing through digital payments, Railway Minister on January 11, 2017, introduced a new mobile app “IRCTC Rail Connect” for crores of Railway Passengers.

Currently, the IRCTC present running website created more issues and passengers were frustrated on booking tickets. Railway Minister Prabhu Solomon said, “Currently e-ticketing system provides to over 10 lakh passengers daily and to increase the comfort to the users, a new Android-based mobile application for booking railway tickets titled as “IRCTC Rail Connect App” launched.”

Apart from this app, the Railway Minister launched many non-fare initiatives and IRCTC mobile apps.

Speaking about the new IRCTC rail Connect App, Suresh Prabhu said, “The new mobile app Rail Connect will allow you to book tickets in an easy way and it has been developed to bring the power of next generation e-ticketing system like high performance and enhanced security.” The new mobile app will replace the old app now.

Minster said, “The new application has features like 24/7 service with no time-based checks, synchronization of a mobile app with NGET for booking tickets, simple and easy user interface supports General, Tatkal, and Premium-Tatkal quota.

The IRCTC new app offers other features like the advanced security of self-assigned PIN (Personal Identification Number) to login without entering username and password on every login.

Railway Minister Prabhu mentioned that a new user registration and activation can now be directly done through the IRCTC Rail Connect. Later he stated that the new App would be integrated with IRCTC e-wallet for faster and stress-free transactions.

“Through IRCTC Rail Connect App users can able to view and also has an option of canceling old mobile app tickets also. The new App will afford payment gateway to over 40 banks to allow digital transactions through Credit Card, Debit Cards, and Net Banking and also mobile wallets like Paytm, PayU, Mobikwik,” he added.

“The IRCTC rail Connect will also be Integrated with IRCTC AIR, Food on Track mobile apps to enable booking of air tickets and food through e-catering.”
