Facebook is rolling out weather forecast feature inside its desktop site and mobile app. This new feature is built-in News Feed or on ‘More’ menu in the mobile app. You can avail full forecast for the coming week in the Weather section from Weather.com. Facebook has confirmed the latest feature is an update to weather greetings feature. Facebook weather forecast feature has been launched to major of its global population this week.

This is not the first of its kind for Facebook to launch weather information on its platform. Forecasts for events and public places has been introduced years ago and recently spotted in its News Feed in the U.K.

Facebook weather greetings, launched in the earlier year provide short information on the weather update. This new weather forecast feature provides you a link for full day forecast and five-day forecast as well. The Weather section is added in the app’s menu to check forecasts. Also, Facebook is now offering an option for getting notifications on weather reports.

“Notifications and the more detailed greetings are rolling out for tests now, with all these updates being widely available by the end of the month,“ says the company. The weather section will set the current location as default and can also be changed in settings.

However, the information which the app provides is purely basic, and it could be just high or low. You also get hourly forecast which you get in most of the present-day weather apps. The apps brings you forecast information from Weather.com’s API and is linked at the bottom saying “See more weather info,”

“We are doing this because our goal is to develop products that connect people to the things they care about most and create moments of joy in people’s day, like simply telling you that it’s going to rain later,” a spokesperson said.
