Facebook has now introduced “ Live Audio ” option after the success of the live video feature. This new way of going live allows broadcasting live audio up to 4 hours. Be it for news radio, interviews, or readings, a publisher can make use of this exclusive audio feature.

This facebook Live Audio feature also alerts administrators if the signal is weak while going live. This added alert took place considering the connectivity issues faced while streaming live videos when the signal is poor. Publishers can broadcast audio with their Facebook display picture on top or upload a different still image.

“We know that sometimes publishers want to tell a story on Facebook with words and not video. Our new Live Audio option makes it easy to go live with audio only when that’s the broadcaster’s preferred format,” Facebook Facebook mentioned in a blog post.

If you are an Android user, you can listen live audio on Facebook even when you leave the app or lock your phone.  The feature won’t get stopped and runs in the background just like your music player.  iOS user can only listen while they browse other parts of Facebook. You can also share this Live audio with your friends just like Live Videos.

Similar to live video, this facebook live audio content can also be discovered in News Feed. You can ask questions and leave reactions while the broadcaster is live. Facebook will test the feature initially with its partners like BBC World Service, authors Adam Grant and Brit Bennett, LBC, and Harper Collins early next week. The feature will be made available to users and publishers early next year.

On the other hand, Facebook’s 360-degree videos rolled out to India in November last year. Recently, it also introduced Live 360 videos, a combined format of Live videos and 360-degree videos.
