Following the launch of unlimited calls by several telecom service providers, the government-run BSNL has moved a step forward. The company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited announced the new Unlimited Local and STD calls offer of Rs 144 plan on Saturday.

The Unlimited Local and STD calls offer is available for the both prepaid and postpaid subscribers. In addition to this offer, customers can also enjoy free data. The Rs. 144 plan includes:

  • Unlimited Local and STD calls to any network with a validity period of one month.
  • Additional 300MB free data.

The BSNL Chairman and Managing Director Anupam Srivastava said, “With the new pack, calls are free and would be available for both prepaid and postpaid customers. Along with the announcement of Unlimited Local and STD calls new packages the company also includes the launch of 4,400 WiFi hotspots across the country.”

Srivastava added, “We have 4,400 Wi-Fi hotspots launched the country-wide. I think in Mahabalipuram near Chennai has comparable Wi-Fi hotspots. Our immediate strategy is to expand this. In next one year, we will have around 40,000 Wi-Fi hotspots throughout the country.”

According to the reports, the company has also obtained 2500MHz from the Government of India for launching services in rural areas. Other telecom operators namely Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular and Vodafone India already introduced unlimited calls offer to counter Reliance Jio.

Last year, the company launched the unlimited voice calling for the landline connections. And now they converted this offer for the mobile users as well. Previously, BSNL announced the unlimited broadband plan of Rs 249 launched in the month of September.
