APJ Abdul Kalam the 11th President of India and also used to be called as “The Missile Man passed away on 27 July 2015. Remembering his first death anniversary, Minister of Defence Manohar Parrikar and Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu unveils APJ Abdul Kalam Statue at Peikarumbu.

Today, on a remembrance of Abdul Kalam first death anniversary, Minister of Defence Parrikar has planned to host events at Rameswaram Island on Wednesday. Last year, rumours spread to lay the foundation stone at Rameswaram.

He died at the age of 83 on 27th of July while giving a speech at an event addressing the students of Indian Institute of Management, Shillong, and Meghalaya, India. His funeral was held in his hometown Rameshwaram attended by many Dignitaries hailing his Excellence and Service towards the country. Last year the whole Country declared a holiday for Abdul Kalam death.

The Indian Former president, Abdul Kalam, awarded with many awards and rewards for hi contribution and service to India such as Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, and Bharat Ratna, highest Civilian award. He was honoured with doctorates from over 40 universities. Kalam’s 79th Birthday was recognised as World Student’s Day by United Nations (UN).

Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Kalam famous as A.P.J Abdul Kalam regarded as one of the greatest scientists that India possesses. Kalam born on 15th October 1931 to Jainulabdeen and Ashamma at Rameswaram, a small seashore city.

Dr APJ Abdul Kalam completed his graduation from St. Joseph’s College, Tiruchirapalli in 1954 but on having a Zeal and passion towards Aerospace Engineering he moved to Madras Institute of Technology (MIT).

Upon completing his Graduation at MIT, Kalam appointed as the Chief Scientist at Aeronautical Development Establishment of Defense Research and Development knew as DRDO. Later he was shifted to ISRO as the project director of India’s first Indigenous Satellite Launch Vehicle.

Under the leadership of Kalam projects like Project Devil and Valiant had advanced India to develop ballistic missiles.it was during his time the when Indian made space ship Rohini-1 was launched into Space. Abdul Kalam plays a crucial role in the development of missiles namely AGNI and PRITHVI.

He was prominently known as the “MISSILE MAN OF INDIA”. He was appointed as the Chief Scientific Adviser to The Prime Minister of India & the Secretary of DRDO during the years 1992-1999.He served as the Coordinator of the Pokhran 11 Nuclear tests.

For his services to the country in the fields of Aerospace and Missiles, he was elected as President of India, highest honorary that one can possess. He succeeded K.R Narayan and served as the 11th president of India and became the 1st bachelor President of India. He was appreciated by many for his pure and simple nature.

He authored many influential and inspirational Books, such as India 2020, Ignited Minds, Mission India, Inspiring thoughts and The Luminous Sparks. With the aim to Defeat corruption in India, he launched a mission named “What Can I Give Movement” in 2011.
